Grumpy Mutt Garage started as more than just a name. It came from a love for cars, a dream of building and restoring JDM projects, and the desire to create something meaningful from the ground up.
Like a lot of enthusiasts, I wanted a better way to keep track of vehicles, parts, jobs, inventory, customer work, and project progress without needing expensive shop software built for large repair businesses. Most systems are either too complicated, too expensive, or not made for the way small garages, side-hustle mechanics, mobile techs, students, and builders actually work.
That is why I started building GMG Shop Manager.
GMG Shop Manager is designed to be a simple, affordable, and useful garage management system for people who need organization without the corporate shop software headache. Whether you are managing your own project cars, helping friends and family, running a small side business, learning the trade, or growing into a real shop, this app is being built with you in mind.

Why I’m Building It
My long-term goal is to build and restore cars, especially JDM-inspired projects, while also creating tools that help other garage-minded people do the same. Grumpy Mutt Garage represents that dream: a place for builds, learning, restoration, parts, tools, and real hands-on automotive work.
GMG Shop Manager is part of that vision.
I wanted software that makes sense for the small automotive business. Something that does not feel overwhelming. Something that helps you stay organized, track what matters, and grow at your own pace.
